Suggester says, "The first thing that comes to mind while viewing this photo is the energy from the water cannon on the right side of the image, its presence clearly explains all the moisture and water scene throughout the image. Next is all the riot guards positioned on the bottom that all look very menacing with their gas masks, shields, teargas launchers, and various other equipment. One can also see what appears to be an object being either thrown from or to the guards, is this a sign of resistance or oppression? In either case it is brilliantly positioned in between the two vertical posts on the right side which was luckly captured in the right time.
Although one cannot view those that are being assaulted by all of these I believe that is the strength of this image because one can easily place and envision this scene happening in your city and being directed against your voiced opinion (Although because of the title we know that in this instance it is the resentment felt by many third world countries towards the IMF).
Another very interesting figure to note is the camera man in the left side of the image. One wonders why exactly is this man looking so casual, and more importantly why none of the guards seem to take notice or attempt to stop him. Along with the fact that the cameraman too is wearing a gasmask the idea that this cameraman is recording images for propaganda purposes comes to mind. However, maybe the media just got a lucky break there (doubtful though, do you ever remember hearing about this?).
So in the end what I think the photographer did here was to give a voice to the protest that would have otherwise gone unnoticed." Anti IMF Meeting by ~borabalbey
